Additional Pioneer TS-A6872R 6-Inch X 8-Inch 3-Way 240-Watt Speakers (Pair) Information

The TS-A6872R 3-way speakers don't scrimp when it comes to the highs and mids either. Pioneer made the midrange drivers out of a special laminated polyester that's 30% lighter than conventional material, resulting in faster, more accurate reproduction of instruments and vocals.

What Customers Say About Pioneer TS-A6872R 6-Inch X 8-Inch 3-Way 240-Watt Speakers (Pair):

They are a dramatic improvement over the stocks ability to produce mids and highs but they are somewhat lacking when it comes to the low end. I even thought maybe they needed a breakin period of about 20 hrs, but they lows actually seem to have gotten worse over the 3 weeks I've owned them. I purchased these speakers from Walmart for more than I could have gotten them from Amazon. This let me do some pretty good comparisons. I will be purchasing another pair from Amazon for the rear doors of my Ford Focus. I do not have these powered by an amp, but they are hooked up to an aftermarket Kenwood head unit pushing out 22watts RMS. It is more defined in some ways, but definately does not hit as hard on the lows.

I've installed a powered sub since then and they do what I need them to do (produce great highs and mids) so I'm satisfied, but I would not count on these producing much low end without being powered by an amp. I was hoping they would be a significant upgrade in all areas compared to my stock 10 year old speakers. It's not non-existant just a bit lacking.Perhaps if they had more power going to them they would produce better lows, but if you just powering these with the head unit don't expect much on the low end. I only purchased one pair and put them in the front doors and left the stock factory speakers in the rear doors. The clarity of the highs is amazing in comparison but it actually seems like the bass is less than what the stock speakers are putting out. They also seem to distort when you crank the bass up and turn up the volume. For the price it's hard to beat these.

Why is this a problem. Bought these to complement the 6x9" 3-way units I put in the rear deck of my Mazda 626, and the they're just as good as their slightly larger brethren. Because going through heavy rain or a car wash sends a cascade of water down through the inside of your doors, and if the speaker compartment isn't separated you run the risk of getting these things soaked which could result in electrical problems. Tight bass, great highs, and natural mids. I was able to crank my old stereo unit up without any distortion (ignoring the rattling of door panels and windows ;] ), can't wait to see how they perform with the new stereo head unit.As a note though, these do not come with baffles. This is easily fixed however by going to the nearest auto parts store or even Walmart and buying some plastic or foam baffles for a few bucks. This is of course assuming these are going into the doors, if not then you've got nothing to worry about.

These speakers fit perfect in my Ford Truck. The sound is much more precise and the bass is improved even from the factory headunit. It was a very easy install. The sound of these speakers is three times better than the factory speakers. I now have a JVC headunit and these speakers make me feel like I am in a concert hall. Very good quality.

I've changed every part of the system except the speakers, so they are the only culprit left.I'm going to try the higher end composite cone Pioneer 6x8 and see how they sound. So I installed a 900 Watt Crunch amp. After installing another 900 Watts to try and drive these things, they still struggle to produce clarity, especially at low volumes.

They definitely are an improvement over the stock Ford speakers, however.the highs are very very limited, and I add a pair of tweeters to the upper part of the door. I have 4 of these in a Ford Escape.

UPDATE:I was driving them with 15W/channel (Pioneer P8000-BT head unit), and it just is not enough to push these things. The lows, well, they're limited as well, and I installed a Kicker sub with a bridged amp to drive it.These speakers are ok for midrange and some highs.

But they definitely lack a clarity that many other Pioneer speakers have ( I have several other pairs in other vehicles). At high volumes, they do sound pretty good now, but at normal listening, they still have limitations.I'm actually not that fussy about this stuff, and have tried tons of different brands and configurations over the years, but these speakers are just not producing the sound that they should, and I'm not sure why.

I recently listened to them in with a stock Mazda head unit and was amazed with the clarity.

these speakers work well in my 99' ford ranger with the four doors and sound really great in the front
